1. Sleeping habits
Poor sleeping habits lead to poor
skin turnover, which could in turn cause clogged pores because of a buildup of
dead skin. Tips for improving sleep quality include:
- Avoiding caffeine after 3pm.
- Cultivating a regular bedtime routine by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day.
- Avoiding the usage of electronic devices near to bedtime.
- Exposing yourself to sunlight in the morning. This allows the body to generate melatonin (a sleep hormone), which helps with sleeping at night.
2. Eating habits
Frequent consumption of oily and
sweet foods encourages the production of sebum, leading to more breakouts.
Maintaining a balanced diet is key, so try to incorporate fruits and vegetables
into your diet and cut down on junk food. Fruits and vegetables are an
excellent source of vitamins and minerals that not only are beneficial for
healthy skin, but also help to keep chronic diseases at bay.
3. Bad habits
Constantly touching your face and
popping pimples could aggravate acne too. As our hands are constantly in
contact with various surfaces throughout the day, our fingertips contain
bacteria which could easily spread to the skin on your face. Moreover, dirt and
oil are transferred from your skin to your sheets as you sleep. If you have
acne-prone skin, this could cause breakouts too. Changing your sheets regularly
will help to reduce such flare-ups.
