Do you have any of these habits which are making you age faster? (Part 2)
1. Using sunscreen only when on vacation
Just running your usual errands and driving on a daily basis may be doing more damage to your skin than going for a sunny beach getaway. The threat of harmful UV rays are present even when it is cloudy or rainy and can even pass through windows, so it is essential to wear sunscreen everyday.
2. Neglecting eye care
The eyes are a feature of the face that is vital for making a first impression. As the skin around the eyes is more delicate than the rest of the skin on your face, it is easier for it to lose its elasticity and for fine lines to form. Applying an eye essence around the eye area can help to provide moisture, improve smoothness and reduce the appearance of fine lines.
3. Using inappropriate products
Wearing makeup excessively, especially oil-based products, can clog pores and cause breakouts if you do not cleanse your face thoroughly afterwards, dulling the appearance of the skin. In addition, products formulated with fragrances, irritating chemicals and alcohol agents may dry out the skin by removing its natural oils, leading to premature lines and wrinkles. Consider choosing fragrance-free, oil-free skincare products that are suitable for your skin type.
4. Nightly TV marathons
Love staying up for one more episode of that addictive drama? When you sit for longer than 30 minutes, your body starts to deposit sugar into your cells, and this process weakens and degrades the body’s collagen which keeps skin looking youthful and bouncy. Staying upalso means missing out on sleep which is when our skin repairs and regenerates itself and stress hormones levels are lower. Skipping sleep disrupts this cycle, which makes skin age faster. Take a break from binge watching shows every 30 minutes to walk around, and get sufficient sleep.
5. Sleeping on a favoured side
Sleeping on your side with your face buried into your pillow can result in the formation of wrinkles on the cheeks and chin. With age, skin does not smooth out or spring back as quickly. Try sleeping on your back or investing in a satin pillowcase to keep skin smooth.
